US Fractional Currency 3rd Issue FR# 1226 ANOTHER GREAT ITEM FOR SALE! Won't see many of these. This is a 3rd issue series note of US FRACTIONAL CURRENCY circulated between December 5th 1864 to August 16th 1869. These notes circulated during the American Civil War and shortly tafter. This note has a black obverse light cream background with bust of President George Washington. Reference FR# 1226 ML# 3253. Condition F to Very Fine. This is the only 3 cent denomination note issued for circulation by the United States Government. Additional information. Several small pinholes, several old center and corner folds (not unusual) no tears, centering is good. 3 sharp corners, average coloring.
