one page, folio, Georgetown, Sep 22, 1819, addressed to simply `My Dear Friend.` In this lengthy letter Key writes regarding fund-raising for some unrecorded purpose, though probably the American Colonization Society. He notes that Meade is on his way to Boston after speaking in New York, New Jersey and Philadelphia, and further that `there is universal sentiment in favor of our object & in favor of the government applying funds to promote it.` He concludes by noting that `We have now formed auxillary societies in all the lower counties in Maryland except one, Charles, St. Marys, St. Georges and Montgomery (all slave counties with a strong slave feeling) have joined us.`
