Up for auction from personal collection is an old woodblock print "Sudden Shower at Tokaido" by Takahashi Shotei (Hiroaki). The print is on a creped paper and framed under glass . The crepe prints are very rare. The creped prints called chirimen-gami-e or "compressed thread paper prints," are crinkled paper prints which were produced at least as early as 1800 in Edo and throughout the 19th century. The compression technique resulted in a highly textured surface and noticeably smaller paper sizes, which offered a different aesthetic from the image printed in standard editions. The print is in very good condition. Some white spots and streaks in the pics are due to the glare of the glass. The size of the print is 11.5h x 5.5w inches and the frame measures 15.75h x 8.5w inches. The original owner brought it from Japan in his YMCA trip to Japan in 1931 and framed it. I acquired it from the nephew of the original owner who had inherited it from his uncle. S/H will be $1 5 within the United States, PayPal is the preferred payment method.
