John Martineau (1948-1995) was born in Langdon, North Dakota, and studied art for two years at North Dakota State University, Fargo, before transferring to San Diego State University, California, where he received his bachelor’s degree in 1970. He taught advanced printmaking and design at California State University, Northridge; conducted lectures and demonstrations, juried national print exhibitions, and was president of the Los Angeles Printmaking Society in 1976. He produced limited edition serigraphs and intaglio prints. His work was included in Thelma Newman's 1977 book “Innovative Printmaking”.
