Lewis was born at Glasgow, Scotland, April 5, 1865. Came to America in 1882. Settled in McKeesport, PA. Worked in various steel mills in the area. Painting entirely self taught, starting his career in 1891. In in 1893 received honorable mention at the World s Columbian Exhibition at Chicago. He died February 28, 1952. Signed Lower right, H.R. Lewis. Framed painting measures 9.5 x 11.75 .
