13.5` diameter brass plate with 1` square waffle grid. Attached paper label reads Bunker Plate from the USS Maine. This plate was used to sift the small pieces of coal from the large ones. This plate was given by the U.S. government to the Spanish American War encampment at Marion, Ohio. In 1960, when the post broke up, due to the death of the last veteran survivor, this plate was given to his widow, Mrs. Delby. Upon her death it was willed to Mr. John Rousch of Newark, OH, who in turn sold it to the plate in 1990 to Mr. John Kaduck of Cleveland, OH. Typanum regions with penned information Bunker plate from Battleship Maine Blown-up in Havana Harbor Feb. 15th 1898/Property of Marion Lamp No. 32 United Spanish War Veterans/Remember the Maine/Received From Washington Navy Yard July 16th, 1912. Complete with old photograph of the resurrected Maine dated June 26, 1901. In a boxed wood frame 17` x 17`.
