This is a fine medal honoring Jean Paul Pierre Casimir-Perier on becoming the 6 th president of France on June 27, 1894 . The one side has a fine formal portrait of him, but the great artistic interest is on the other side - the allegorical scene of a woman in gauzy classical robes stepping up to place her vote in an urn. Nifty aesthetic/art nouveau stylistic influence !! This is quality work because it was done by famed artist Jules Clement Chaplain, and is marked, "J C CHAPLAIN" on both sides. This is a good sized 2 5/8" across, and was produced by the Paris Mint (cornucopia and "BRONZE" along the edge). For condition , please study the pics with "zoom". The truer color is that seen in the scan pics.GREAT MEDAL !!GREAT ART !!GREAT HISTORY !!PLEASE STUDY ALL PICTURESFOR FULL UNDERSTANDING OF THE ITEMBEFORE YOU BID , PLEASE READ:Please email me if you have any questions, ( and allow 24 hours for a reply ).
