Francis Marion South Carolina Revolutionary War Scene FRANCIS MARION - SWEET POTATO DINNER "General Marion in His Swamp Encampment Inviting a British Officer to Dinner". This is a full color photo lithograph taken from my original hand colored engraving published in 1841. Painted by John R. White, Charleston , S.C.and engraved by John Sartain. (Please note this is a reproduction and not the original) I sold the orignal 10 years ago to one of the largest antique print dealers in New YOrk City . The color and detail of this print is almost better than the original. Overall lize 21 3/4" X 18 1/4". Francis Marion was known as the "Swamp Fox" because of his ability to hide his troops in the Swamps of South Carolina , attacking the British troops before they knew what hit them.
