Franciscan Crown or also known as the 7 Joys of the Blessed Virgin Mary is here for you today as there are not enough rosaries that are around anymore of these older c1850 fantastic habit rosaries to fill the needs of all the people who want them. I have been blessed to have what I do have in my collection which has taken me 29 years to fulfill my dreams of wanting & waiting for all the right rosaries to come along and then I would purchase them. Of course, it really got out of hand because I had so many of them that it was an obsession and of course a beautiful obsession. But now is the time for them to go to other people who will love them as much as I have, these rosaries have been my life & it will now become your life. The rosary is c1850 & was owned by a Franciscan nun of the Third Order of Franciscans. The rosary does not have a center medal, but then most of the rosaries did not have them from the 1500's to the later 1800's. The Pater beads are hand carved ebony beads and are 12MM, and the Mater beads are 1/2" or approximately 10MM. The rosary is 40" long when held by the crucifix, and let it go from the bottom of the rosary up to the crucifix. The drop is from the tip of the crucifix to the end of the place where the rosary splits, and that is 11". The circumference is the part that is from the center part of the rosary (where the center medal would be if it had one) to the circumference of the inner circle of beads which is 58". The crucifix with the ebony inlay, and nickel silver Corpus & Starburst Nimbus, raised INRI, and Skull & Crossbones is 4 1/4" by 2 1/8". The crucifix is gorgeous, and it is so beautiful that it almost makes me cry. I am into the Passion of Christ very much so anything to do with His death & His passion of being tortured, beaten, whipped, crowned with thorns, & lanced with a spear to make sure that He was dead, is something that I try to everyday offer up to Jesus for all His suffering on the cross for us. We all have something that is wrong with us, wether it is health wise, or mental, or any type of hurt, suffering we can offer it up for the souls in purgatory, which the souls in Purgatory are very close to Jesus & the Blessed Virgin Mary. Each of us carries a cross to bear, weather you are aware of it or not, we all will have a cross in our lives, so why not offer it up as a small sacrifice to Our Lord for the souls in Purgatory or for whatever intention you would want to do it for. Our Lord had 5,480 different places on His body that were inflicted upon Him through the Passion. This is what is mentioned in the book of The Magnificent Prayers of St.Bridget of Sweden. That is what Christ told her when she asked how many blows, & cruelties, did Our Lord suffer. But the greatest one that bothered Him the most was the open cut in His shoulder that went down to the bone, where He carried the cross & dragged it through the streets. The Passion of Christ would be great reading for anyone who would like to know more about the way that Christ died for our sins, and relieved us of the Original sin, which Adam & Eve our first parents put on our souls because they did not listen to God, and they ate of the one apple on the tree that they were not suppose to touch. So in the skull & crossbones on the cross, is the representation of Adam's skull and when Christ's Blood was running over the skull on Calvary, it was the Precious Blood of Christ that washed away the Original sin that was created for us by Adam & Eve. No one other then Christ could have been able to do that for us. Getting back to the rosary the clip on the beads is to hold the rosary on a habit for a Priest, Monk, Missionary, Friar, Nun, etc. so that it is attached to their belt, and the rosary is easily accessible to them to pray. The brass clip has the Blessed Virgin Mary on the front, and it is 2 1/2" long by 1/2" wide. The medals that are attached to the rosary are: The one which is about 1/2 way through the rosary is the brass medal of St.Francis of Assisi, who founded the Franciscan Order for all the other monks who foll...
