This is a setting for 8 plus t are a few of the pieces that have 9 instead of 8. They have been used but seem to be in great condition. I do not see any cracks or breaks, 2 have chips as stated below. Some of the pieces have gold lettering that reads: Silver Pine Franciscan Masterpiece Made in the U.S.A.
