Pin is 2.5" x 2.5" with original "Mickey Mouse" silhouette rubber clasps holding pin to card.Notes: As issued exclusively to artist Frank Thomas by Disney Auctions during the original limited edition release for this exclusive set of animator "Signature Series" pins.Also includes notation on reverse of pin that this is a "Limited Edition 100 - Disney Auctions Exclusive"; with the auction hammer logo embedded within the pin's design.In 2003, eBay and the Walt Disney Company partnered to develop what was then a relatively new concept: internet auctions. As eBay had begun to dominate the internet marketplace, Disney developed an exclusive line of limited edition collectibles, in addition to offering select artifacts from the vaults of the Walt Disney Studio. Iconic set pieces were offered to collectors and unique artifacts were developed such as the line of oversized collector pins that are featured in this auction. These special eBay / Disney Auctions presentations were even promoted inside the windows displays of the Main Street Opera House in Town Square at Disneyland in Anaheim, California (as pictured in photo).This particular pin is noted as "DA04213" (DA is the prefix for all items offered on eBay for what was then known as "Disney Auctions"). While Disney used a specialized web domain in association with these auctions, they were, in fact, hosted on the eBay auction site.This artifact is part of the historic Disneyana collection of animator Frank Thomas (1912--2004).The item was previously exhibited in the home where Frank and Jeanette Thomas raised their four children in Flintridge, California. Frank's best friend and fellow Disney animator Ollie Johnston and wife, Marie, lived next door. Their stories are presented in the timeless feature documentary film, "Frank and Ollie", produced by Frank's son, Theodore Thomas and his wife Kuniko Okubo.Among the most trusted artists ever to work with Walt Disney, Frank Thomas was a key member of the fabled animation team known as Disney's "nine old men."
