I was holding onto this piece until I could come up with the inserts. Fortunately these are not impossible to find like some Frankart inserts can be. A few days ago the ashtrays were listed on Ebay and I, like an idiot, forgot to bid. So now I'm frustrated with myself and ready to let someone else be more dilegent the next time the inserts come up (or maybe the bidder who bought the inserts would like to buy the piece they go to). This smokers set is rather rare - signed Quiozel - but I'm pretty sure I've seen the identical item also marked Frankart. The finish is the original thick creamy pearlescent, which is in quite good shape except for the bottoms of the ashtrays which have peeled considerably. They (the ashtray bottoms) could easily be stripped and repainted and would look fine even if you couldn't match the rest of the pearl paint perfectly (maybe even just paint them black). T are also other minor flaws in the paint in a few spots but they are insignificant and you would likely choose to leave them alone. The figure is nice and straight - not bent as commonly happened. The base has a slight warp to it - common to Frankarts - not objectionable... no cracks or chips The insert box is original but missing the lid. It has a minor chigger bite to the rim - hard to see and would be covered by the lid. This is a large and heavy read more
