If you are looking at this item, you are probably aware of the significance and rarity of any 1927 Frankford Yellow Jackets home programs. The words "World Champions" on the cover in bold letters were the first for a professional football team in Philadelphia and one would have to wait until 1948 to boast another such claim. At a time when Philly faithful are celebrating 50 years since the last NFL Championship, programs such as this are around to provide a reminder that it has been done before.
I have included many pictures of the home program between the Yellow Jackets of Frankford and the Chicago Bears that took place on December 3, 1927. The score ended in a 0-0 tie. Now onto the condition. When I compare a copy of a program to a brand new one being sold at the game, I would suggest that this program is in good to very good condition. I will outline the imperfections and you can take a look at the many photos I included. (1) SPINE: Excellent shape and no rips, tears or usage blemishes (2) COVER: Very good shape with what used to be a crease/fold going from side to side that has been mostly smoothed out with time. See photos. There is the word "Bears" handwritten at the top in dull pencil. You can erase it if you want. There is a small blemish to the left of the football player's planted leg and under the word "published." There is a little smudging , also to the left of the player's leg. The corners are rounded. Overall, would make an exceptional piece framed. (3) BACK COVER: Also in good shape with some age marked. Upper left corner has a couple very small dots. There is a small dot 3/4 of the way down edge on the left. There is a crease/fold in the lower left corner. The crease from the front is also faintly visible on the back. (4) STAPLES: Intact throughout entire program with the exception of the middle page (with lineups) where it came lose and separated. I am guessing with some TLC could get that page back into the staples. (5) INSIDE: The fold is not noticeable on the inside of the program. You can feel it if you run your hand over it but can't see it. The remainder of the inside is in very good shape. There is no writing and no rabbit ears. Again, look for yourself with the pictures. This is a great program because of several things, other than the condition and the "World Champions" on the cover. First, it is the game before the famous Red Grange and the New York Yankees come to town. There is also reference to their last game against the Duluth Eskimos and Ernie Nevers. Not to be forgotten is that this game ended with no score even though Paddy Driscoll was running the ball and George Halas was the end!! If you have any questions, don't hesitate to email us. This is one of the nicer programs I have seen for the Yellow Jackets. Please note that I will be sending this USPS Priority Mail and the shipping charge will be $9.95. Please pay via PayPal within two days of the auction. I will ship within one business day. Please note our comments and feedback. There will be no returns as the item has been accurately described and there are plenty of pictures included. Thanks and !
