Franklin Library: Moon Lake: Livvie: A Worn Path: The Wide Net: The Bride of Innsfallen: Old Mr. Marblehall Franklin Library FULL leather top-of-the-line edition of Eudora Welty's "Moon Lake and Other Stories," Illustrated by Charles Reid, a Limited edition, one of the COLLECTED STORIES OF THE WORLD'S GREATEST WRITERS series, published in 1980. Bound in a Most Handsome hunter green Moroccan leather, the book has French moire endleaves, satin ribbon, hubbed spines, 22 kt. gold gilding on three edges---in near FINE condition---except for minor scratches on gilt and minor shelf wear. Eudora Welty, who lived from 1909-2001, was born in Jackson, MISSISSIPPI. Welty attended Mississippi State College for Women and the State University of Iowa. She photographed pictures of the Deep South as a part of Roosevelt's "New Deal." Welty has written "A Curtain of Green," "The Golden Apples," "The Bridge of Innisfallen," "The Robber Bridegroom," "Delta Wedding" and "Ponder Heart." Welty's stories are set in Mississippi and depict characters, often grotesque, who fail to know themselves or their neighbors. "A Worn Path" is the story of PHOENIX JACKSON, an old Negro lady who makes a dangerous jouney into town to beg for medicine for her sick grandchild.
