Item Today you have the opportunity to bid on a piece of history. Up for auction is the Franklin Mint’s 100 Greatest Masterpieces being sold by the original owner. This set includes all one hundred 24 karat gold plated on sterling silver coins as well as the original mahogany, felt lined collectors case. You are bidding on the complete set of 100 coins and the six-drawer collector’s case. Description This is extremely rare as most sets are incomplete, without the handsome display case. Minted throughout the 1970s, each large coin contains 2.13 troy ounces of sterling silver and is electroplated with 24 karat gold. I received one coin each month from the Franklin Mint for 100 months starting in 1973. Condition The case shows some wear with markings on the top surface from various transport over the decades. It is made from mahogany and can be easily refinished if you desire. Despite their age the coins have aged extremely well (no scratches or chips). That said, some of the coins have some patina patches that are removable through professional cleaning. (See photos) The value of the silver alone is well over $4000. Documentation This auction item comes with all documentation, including a certificate of authenticity with a registration number. There is also a binder that contains a full description of the image found on each
