Rare Franklin Mint Classic Car Collection: 63 Individual 24K Gold Electroplate on Sterling Silver Ingots With Paper & Wood Case This is a .99 START NO RESERVE AUCTION, high bidder wins it!!!!! This is a fantastic collection of 63 24K gold on solid sterling silver ingots featuring classic cars through the ages. Amazingly it was purchased one month at a time for 63 months (over 5 years), that is commitment! The buyer paid $39.50 for each ingot or $2488.50 total, all original receipts are included. I am not 100% sure but I think this is #0600 of the 1500 ONLY limited edition sets I think so because of the gold plating and the matching 0600 on all ingots. Remember that Franklin Mint made this exact set in sterling only, one sterling ONLY set recently sold on eBay for $691.88. This collection includes 63 24K Gold Electroplate on Silver Ingots, the wood display case, and all but one the informational cards with descriptions of the cars in their own display box. Original cleaning cloth also included. Each ingot weighs 20.7 grams, total weight of collection is approximately 1304.1 grams of silver or 41.927 troy ounces of sterling (value today for sterling is $16.99 making the metal value alone $712.00, not sure how much the gold weighs). Each ingot is stamped on the side: 24K Gold Electroplate on Sterling some makers marks and "0600", this number matches all ingots in this set. The wood box measures 21 3/4" x 10 5/8" x 3". Box is in very good condition, (it has a few very insignificant marks and light dents). Collection in box weighs 7 lbs. 14 oz. Some of the ingots have a darkened area on the gold surface (looks like tarnish): about 12 of the ingots show small areas of this kind of spotting. (See pics). It may come off with careful cleaning, but I am not sure. 9 or so ingots look like they may have been polished, all other look mint un-circulated. I did not attempt to clean or touch these more then needed. All the description cards are included except for Car #41, the 1933 Reo Royale Sedan (this one was never mailed, according to the insert). Cards are in very good condition. Great limited edition series, collected and cherished by the original owner!
