Franklin Mint Aquarian Orrey Clock You are bidding on a brand new Aquarian Age orrey clock from the Franklin Mint. Designed by David Baraky, Vice President and Head of Design at the Franklin Mint, to celebrate the dawn of the Aquarian Age when Mars and Jupiter aligned in the year 2000. The clock is constructed of marble and brass, materials that are identified with antiquity with a style that reflects the twenty-first century. The Aquarian Age Clock features a celestial movement which duplicates the orbits of the Earth and Moon. The complex mechanical clockwork is manufactured by the renowned clockmaker Hermle in Germany and is enclosed in a glass sp decorated with the astrological symbols of the planets. Precious and semi-precious metals form the Earth, Sun and Moon in a fully functioning planetary orrey. The clock sits on a polished black marble base with sterling silver supports and is lavishly accented in 24 karat gold figurines. The complex gear works are protected by beveled glass panels and a European glass dome. The clock accurately depicts the position of the Earth and Moon relative to the sun as well as the day and month of the year. This timepiece is a stunning fusion of sculpture and mechanical complexity and would be the centerpiece of any display cabinet. Definitely a "must have" for clock collectors.
