Franklin Mint The Greatest Corvettes CollectionSterling Silver Proof Set Offered at auction is a complete set of 24 sterling ingots depicting 24 different Corvettes, as issued by the Franklin Mint. This set also includes a Certificate of Authenticity as well as informational leaflets detailing what were the significant factors that made each model stand out. Unfortunately, 2 leaflets are missing... the 1955 and the 1995... but as mentioned above, they are merely informational and do not constitute a Certificate of Authenticity. THAT... is included, to certify that that buyer of this auction is the rightful owner.Only a limited number of these sets were made and many, like many other coins and medals minted, have experienced severe withdrawal from the collector market into the melting pots during these hard times. Each Individual Ingot weighs 37.32 grams of Sterling Silver. All 24 Corvette Ingots are held securely in Franklin Mint red velvet trays with each ingot securely protected by an enclosed plastic case. The Franklin Mint collection case measures 7 ¼” x 10” inches. This display case is made perfectly to fit the Ingots in their trays. The individual ingots are in superb condition, and they look to be seldom handled but time has rendered a bit of tarnish and toning on some. The details are sharp and true and all elements are clearly readable. Individual Ingots details are as follows: Each measure 51.96mm x 36.51mm x 2.84 mm or (inches) 2.045” x 1.438” x 2.84”. Individual year ingots include – 1953 / 1955 / 1956 Hard Top Rear View / 1956 SR-2 Convertible Front View / 1957 SS / 1958 / 1959 / 1961 / 1962 Shark / 1963 Sting Ray / 1968 / 1968 / 1968 Auto II / 1970 XP-882 / 1973 / 1975 / 1978 / 1981 / 1982 / 1984 / 1986 / 1990 / 1997 / 40th Anniversary ZR1. Each ingot is hallmarked and stamped .925 Sterling. All totaled, the sterling weight of this set is 28.8 troy ounces. Undeniably, a valuable asset that should only grow in both value and rarity...but the pleasure of owning such a treasure would be immeasurable. I found NONE of these ingots available on Ebay... or for that matter, anywhere else, so I can only assume that the collector value has outweighed the 'melt' value.Due to value, this item will be shipped via UPS with full insurance. The shipping cost is only an estimate and I always refund any overcharge once I know what my actual shipping costs will be. Please view the pictures carefully. I generally take my photographs outside in sunlight to accurately depict the colors and conditions of the items I am offering. If you see any discolorations or other anomalies that would indicate damage, it is either the sun, the clouds, the trees, or me. I try to fully and faithfully disclose any irregularities I find but I am far from perfect and some things may escape my detection. Also, when damage (no matter how minute) I try to make sure that it is clearly depicted in the photos. I believe that I have described the above auction offering accurately and in detail. Please consult the photographs or Email me with any questions. My word is my bond. If you are unhappy with your purchase, please contact me within 3 business days to arrange return and a refund of your purchase price. Shipping charges are not refundable. The sterling that I am currently listing are not my property and as such, I am unable to make a 'deal' or entertain a 'Best Offer' scenario. They belong to a friend who is in the precious metals business. He has a warehouse that is stockpiled with sterling items that he has purchased over the last 28 years of business, including more than 100 different silver flatware sets. With the soaring price of silver, he had decided to send them all to the smelter to be melted down. Instead, I convinced him to let me try to offer them on Ebay so that they would not be destroyed. I know that there are silver lovers out there that wish to harken back to the days of genteel dining and gracious ...
