FRANKLIN MINT HISTORY OF FLIGHT – 65 MEDALS
This is an incomplete collection of 65 out of 100 medals from the Franklin Mint’s History of Flight series. Each of the 65 Sterling Silver medals is 45mm in diameter (approx. 1.75 inches) and weighs 1.2 troy ounces. This amounts to 78 troy ounces of Sterling Silver in the set. Sterling Silver is 92.5% pure; tfore, the set contains at least 72 troy ounces of pure silver. 47 of the medals are in the individual lucite capsules and displayed, 20 per sheet, in an elegant album designed specially for this set. The album is about 15" by 13" by 2" thick. The remaining 18 medals are in their original packaging from the Franklin Mint, two per card. All of the medals are proofs, and show no toning. The face of each medal sets forth a stunningly detailed image representing a particular milestone in the history of manned flight. I have included several detail photographs to let you see the beauty and amazing detail of these reliefs. The reverse of each coin provides a brief description of the event memorialized.
