Jewel of the Nile Necklace The pendant is approximately 5" widw x 3" high. The chain length is approx 14"-16". This piece is an original design available exclusively from the Franklin Mint. The Jewel Of the Nile necklace was electroplated with 22 karat gold and hand enameled with vibrant blue and aqua. At its center is an ageless symbol of good luck that dates from the time of the pharaohs in Ancient Egypt . This symbol - the scarab - was hand carved from a color-enhanced deep blue cabochon onyx. During the heyday of the Egyptian Empire, the scarab was considered an emblem of resurrection and immortality. Its design was inspired by an insect with projections emanating from its head that the Egyptians thought of as the rays of the sun. Carved stone and metal figures representing the scarab were regarded as charms to protect against misfortune. The scarab has endured through the ages as a good luck amulet. As the centerpiece of the Jewel of the Nile Necklace, it combines the mystique of the pharaohs with a style that's boldly fashionable for today. This piece comes with the certificate of authenticity. This piece was made by the Franklin Mint in 1987, and is no longer in production. Shipping is available to Canada for 10.95 Europe 20.50
