The Franklin Mint Treasury of Presidential Commemorative Medals
American Express Edition This is a collection of 36 presidential medals that were issued monthly in groups of 3 in 1970 and 1971. The front of the medal is a raised figure of a president and the back contains a biography of that president. All presidents from Washington through Nixon are represented. This is a great collectable. The medals are 39 mm (about 1.5") in diameter. The weight of each these medals is 500 grains of Sterling Silver. Sterling silver is 92.5% pure. If you do the math, at recent silver prices, you would find the value of the just the metal itself would be about $440. T is a book that contains the medals as well as a booklet that contains a more detailed biography of each president. The cover of the book shows some minor shelf wear. The medals show very limited discoloration. The medals have never been physically touched and were put in the binder with rubber gloves when they were issued. They are in excellent shape.
