THE FRANKLIN MINT TREASURY OF CAROUSEL ART THE SEAHORSE In 1988, The Franklin Mint created a set of one dozen beautifully hand-painted porcelain replicas of some of the most prized EARLY 20TH CENTURY CAROUSEL ANIMALS then preserved in Private American Collections. In 1990, a second collection of one dozen Carousel Animals were fired. The Seahorse was among this second collection, AND WAS THE ONLY CAROUSEL FIGURE WITH A LIMIT OF 45 DAYS' FIRING TIME. This is the reason for their scarcity and higher value. for your perusal is THE SEAHORSE , an original porcelain carousel figurine created at the Franklin Mint. It is a replica of "Brandy", a rare carousel which is currently part of the private collection at The International Museum of Carousel Art. "Brandy was created by the Dentzel company circa. 1885. THE SEAHORSE is suspended on a spindled brass bar which mounts to an oval base of what appears to be Koa with a felt underlining. It measures 6 3/8" at the top of the bar, 5 7/8" at the mane. This example appears to be without fault or flaw. Shipping will be combined for all Carousel pieces: 1-2 pieces ship as 1. 3-4 pieces ship as 2. 5 pieces ship as 3. Insurance for the full purchase amount is mandatory. Thanks very much for your time and interest. Questions and comments are encouraged, and will be answered whenever possible. read more
