This is a diecast 1/550 scale model of the USN Iowa classbattleship USS MISSOURI made by the Franklin Mint. It comes in a high quality glass and oak framed display case with the original information leaflet. It is 19.5 inches (49.5cm) long, and the case measures 22 x 7 x 7 inches (56 x 18 x 18 cm). The model features superb levels of detail including rotating main and secondary gun turrets with individually elevating barrels, guardrails, ladders, aerials, rigging, etc. (see pictures). Launched 29 January 1944, the USS Missouri was 887 feet long with a displacement of 45000 tons. The Battleship had a distinguished career and the Japanese surrender was accepted onboard 2 September 1945. This event is commemorated on the plaque mounted on the plinth. I would much prefer collection in person but am prepared to deliver or meet the buyer within a 60 mile radius of Southampton. Buyer to pay my petrol costs.
