FRANKOMA POTTERY MADE THESE mini JUGS ONLY AROUND 1942. IT IS IN EXCELLENT CONDITION AND HAS THE SMALL INCISED FRANKOMA STAMP ON THE BOTTOM.

THIS PARTICULAR COLOR IS MOST UNIQUE AS IT IS ONE I HAVE NEVER SEEN BEFORE AND HAVE BEEN UNABLE TO GET ANYONE QUALIFIED TO IDENTIFY. SUNFLOWER YELLOW AND AUTUMN YELLOW CAME LONG AFTER THESE LITTLE JUGS WERE DISCONTINUED. IT IS TOO YELLOW TO BE EGGSHELL OR IVORY AND NOT YELLOW ENOUGH TO BE EARLY MATTE YELLOW. I HAVE OWNED PIECES WITH THE CREAM GLAZE WHICH IS NOT AS YELLOW AS THIS AND WAS USED PRIMARILY AND ONLY FOR SOME OF THE EARLY GUERNSEY CREAMERS. I CAN ONLY SUPPOSE IT WAS AN EXPERIMENTAL COLOR, MISTAKE, OR SOME EMPLOYEE HAVING FUN MIXING COLORS. IT ALSO HAS IN PENCIL 1.00 WRITTEN ON THE BOTTOM WHICH IS THE WAY FRANKOMA PRICED THEIR SMALLER PIECES SOLD AT THEIR ROADSIDE SHOP TO DROP-IN CUSTOMERS.
