late 19th c., the red griotte marble dial marked in incised gilt, "Herter Bros." and having applied brass Roman numerals, the case surmounted by a Greek urn and scroll carved, striking bell, pendulum movement, height 23 1/2 in., width 21 in., depth 6 1/4 in.
Note: As part of the Herter firm's endeavor to create entirely integrated interiors, the creation of special-order luxury items, such as this clock, was certainly a frequent occurrence.
