Miners' oilwick cap lamp made by Fred B. Zais of Mt Savage (near Frostburg) Maryland. Zais began producing cap lamps in the 1870's and his earliest lamps are dated 1876. The later lamps are all marked Frostburg under unidentifiable symbols. So far four different sets of these symbols have been identified on Zais lamps. Lamp features a double-lined spout for burning solid Sunshine fuel. Lamp appears to be unfired.Excellent condition. Measures approx. 2 1/4" tall to top of lid.
