Frederic Remington Large Bronze "Bronco Buster" Sculpture. I acquired this stunning piece of art at an estate sale - it was covered up and tucked away in a corner. This woman had some very expensve, high quality pieces of artwork and furnishings. I thought it was stunning and purchased, but now we have a baby on the way and I must sell. I asked the daughter about the piece and the only thing she could tell me about it was that her family had it since she was born and her mother told her it never to touch it - that it was old and very expensive. I took many pictures so you could see the detail in the bronze - I did some research and t were thousands of Bronco Buster reproductions - Most are poor quality and modern day reproductions are terrible - they have casting marks everyw and the more pieces they use in the mold, the worse they come out. As you can see from the photos - no casting marks and you can tell that this is a very high quality bronze. The detail is amazing! ****Shipping charges are $70 to USA only and include materials and proper packaging and insurance to ensure that this fine artwork arrives to you in perfect condition. is some information on the lost wax process and Remington: The original, of this piece, was gifted to President Theodore Roosevelt by Remington 1895 and has today become a symbol of the American Old West. It sits proudly in The White House. Remington (1861-1909) was a colorful individual, who was a Yale college drop out, having grown up during the Civil War. He travelled west, w his interest in ranching, cowboys, the military, native americans, and the old west, was reflected in his works consisting of over 3300 drawings and paintings, 22 bronze sculptures, 2 novels, 1000's of magazine articles. This college dropout, boxer, football player, rancher, author, painter, sculptor, is one of Americas most beloved artists, who in a short life of 48 years, (died from burst appendix), contributed so much to American Old West art form, depicting mans conflict with nature in the mid to late 1800's. This Bronco (often spelled Broncho) Buster Bronze, his first, is very finely detailed, weighing almost 50 pounds. It is over 24 inches in Height, 18 inches wide and approximately 13 inches deep. Lost Wax Process of Casting, the genesis of which was passed down From Greeks and Romans Just as in ancient times, w t was no machinery, this methodology is all by hand. Not all bronzes are hand made. Many are mass produced, as are the clothes we wear and the cars we drive. So when we buy a bronze- we buy a copy. The question is always the quality of the bronze copy, the process used and the time (labor) involved from the First to the Final step. In quality bronzes, all steps are essential.STEP 1 Mold from an Original Work of Art: This step is by the most critical. Most people are under the impression, that bronze art is carved. It is not. It is an impression, that is made of an existing piece, and that is why the mold is the most critical aspect of the process. If you ever had a dental impression taken, to fit a Crown for example, the same principle is at work. A soft substance is "impressed" on a tooth, and creates a form, into which a liquid is pored that reflects the actual tooth. Once hardened, the impression is attached looking identical to the original. The same is true of bronzes. All the detail which appears on the original sculpture must be captured in this mold. The mold (depending on the size of the sculpture) may be cut into sections for casting. The result of the first step is that the copy is the exact copy of every detail as the original. STEP 2 Making the Wax Casting: Molten wax, just as above, is poured into the prepared mold to form layers of wax. The mold is carefully cleaned, and purged to ensure it has absolutely no foreign loose material in it, otherwise it will be duplicated. Once poured, the model is an exact duplicate of the original casting. Most ...
