Antique scenic vellum glazed vase made by Rookwood in 1919 - handpainted and signed by Frederick Rothenbusch.
Measures approx 9 3/4 inches high. Tall, baluster shape. Light of Dawn. Meadows and fields in a continuously painted tree-filled scene. Colours range from soft blues, pinks tinged with yellow, purples, muted greens and greys. Wonderful detail. Great depth - as we look more, the eye discovers a greater and greater depth and variety of scenery. Typical crazing, but no damage/restoration. Incised marks underneath: Rookwood mark with date XIX (1919), shape number 469 and size letter D that indicates the use of a new shape. V for vellum glaze, artist's initials. Minor crazing, but otherwise good condition with no chips/cracks/restorations.
