Presented for your consideration, a three piece French Art Nouveau figural clock/ candelabra set made predominantly from spelter and marble. The graceful female figure in the piece has a plaque at her base entitled," Libellule par Aug. Moreau" Libellule is French for "dragonfly". The two accompanying candelabras even still have the snuffers, which are separate little pieces that sit atop the middle candlestick holder, and look like a continuous part of the piece. They can be removed and that middle stem can also be used as an additional candlestick holder. The name "Moreau" is also stamped or engraved into the spelter on one side of the base. Dimensions: Figural piece is 20 3/4" tall, 11 1/2" wide at widest point, 6" deep. Candelablra is 21x about 6 1/2. The piece's overall visual appearance looks clean and in good to very good vintage condition. I will try to itemized every little issue I see to the best of my ability. I am no expert on these pieces, but I do have a good generalized working knowledge of them. 1) on the back of the female figure, around the shoulder blades, the spelter looks like it was meant to support wings that have long since been gone--before I got her at least-- which was about 15 to 20 years ago. They were probably glass or parchment or the like. T is a photo that shows this. I didn't even notice this until about a year after I bought her. 2) one of the candelabras has a break and repair about mid way up the stem. T is also a slight separation of the metal on one of the arms of the candlestick holder. You can see it on very close examination but it does not compromise the support of the holder because t is a piece that runs parellel to it that is also a support. Two other arms have repairs on them--if you look very closely. 3) the ormalu or ormalu-like legs, decorative surround on the clock face, and little decorative pieces on the side of the marble base may have been resurfaced with a gilded paint. I'm not sure about this, so if you know more than I do, take a look and tell me what you think. Other clocks I've seen like this on Ebay look like this one in that regard. 4) t is some very minimal some surface wearing on the corners of the marble, and on the side panels some fissures that look like they are just part of the natural state of the marble. T is a TINY chip of the front corner of the marble--about 1/8th of an inch. 5) the clock itself seems to work fine and keeps accurate time--you can adjust it with the pendulum weight or a small adjustment mechanism at the top of the clock face; however, the chimes do not stay synchronized with the time, inspite of small adjustments I've attempted. If you are okay with it not striking, thats fine. I ended the auction early a week ago, when I discovered this. See shipping info in box entitled "other check out instructions"
