Welcome to my auction. I attended a wonderful barn antique sale this week and purchased many lovely old items. The Edwardian womans boudoir cap was one of them. I was told it is french and the lace is possibly brussels lace. The cap is made of fine peach colored silk panels with each side of the cap decorated with beautiful lace and satin ribbons. The sides have hand made satin ribbon flowers of a violet color. The silk has some minor pinholes and some very small spots. The lace is not damaged and has no holes or rips. T is some slight tan colored spots on some of the lace around the side. I am thinking this is about 110 years or more in age so overall it is in good condition. I believe this would look just beautiful on a antique french or german doll. The cap measures 17 to 18" across from side to side this measurement is taking the lace edging into account. the diameter of the cap is about 25" so this is a larger piece. I do not know much about old lace or antique textiles just the small about of information given at the time of sale. Questions or comments are always welcome.
