Bonjour a tous! This is an extraordinary Confit Pot that is the last of the 4 that I carried home from 'Le Midi' in France.. All of my confit pots are superb quality as one would find in a shop of unquestionable reputation and expertise I have many clients who only trust me when it comes to this form of 'Terre Vernissee' that has taken lovers of French Country by storm. I, too was taken by this Grand Confit pot that I found near its place of origin, Meynes and that is why I propose this one Personally, this is my favorite type of Confit pot. Excellent condition and signs of the passage of time. T is normal wear and tear around the rim and a petit perfect, minimal amount of glaze loss on the body. A drain was made in the bottom of the pot as someone used it to hold flowers during the 20thC. In a word, magnifique. The effects of a color-wheel of Mustards, some caused by the confit mixing with the mustard glaze after so many years..perhaps in the sun to produce veins of seperate colors, is museum quality. Bien sur, t are drips in caramel, mustard-yellow and a flame of creme caused by too much engobe in one area. Stunning.. The pot is 12 inches...a large piece of the 1790s-1820s. These factors, too me, show the difference between a young Confit pot (1895-1920) , like many offered on Ebay, and the truly very ancient antique versions of the turn of the 19thC. I have a picture of this exact form (now in the Musee de Vieux Nimes) in a book describing 'The State of Poterie Production in the Regions' that was an official report sent to the administration in Paris in 1809. Thus, this pot is 1795-1820. I'd say what makes this pot so special is the drips mixing with the color of the glaze that gives you such a sense of what we find so bewitching about these poteries in the first place! Grab it...t are not many left in France this old and authentic and as for Ebay, in general....:)))))))). I guarantee with all my poteries that which ever size, preference of its look or form you pick, you will be delighted to have the certainty of my expertise and not the hassle of dealing with questionable sellers and over-priced shipping from France..Actually, Witches Honor, the way you'll find a stunner like this one is to know a good collector...Luckily, Jaunes et Vertes has that covered! I can't describe how stunning this beautiful pottery of France d'autrefois will shine in any home. A very special, unique and radiant piece of antiquite de France. The pictures say it all.
