You are bidding on this MAS French Bayonet in excellent condition. We acquired this bayonet last weekend at an auction in Montgomery County, Maryland. The deceased was a collector of all sorts of weaponry and we acquired a bunch of items which we will be listing over the next few weeks; so be sure to watch our upcoming auctions. Although we are not weapons experts, our research indicates that this is a French bayonet for the MAS 1949/56 rifle used by French paratroops in Vietnam. In addition to being a bayonet it was used as a fighting knife. It is in excellent condition; appears to have not been used and to have been factory sharpened. The bayonet is about 12 3/4 inches long with about 8 inches of that being the blade . The locking lever in the grip handle moves smoothly. The cross-guard is stamped "MAT F". The 14-1/4" scabbard has a metal case that is 9" in length with a tie-hole at the base. The back side of the case near the throat is marked "MAS" and under this is "69". Four rivets attach the metal blade case to a green leather belt loop. The close is a slit leather loop with a metal knob. A web-belt attachment completes the scabbard. As always, I have attempted to provide comprehensive photographs; however if you need additional pictures or have questions, please feel free to contact me by email. Buyer to pay $6.50 shipping
