A good French Drawing Instruments Set - 1880 circaFrench drawing instruments set made in France during the 4th quarter of the 19thcentury (1880 circa). The brass instruments retain an aged patina with some oxide spots on the surface (a couple of screws are missing but could be easily replaced). The set consists of: a big brass compass with accessories for ink & pencil a brass dividers with fixed blades a small compass with attachments for ink & pencil an extension bar an iron bow-compass withfixed blades a bone handled ruling pen (inner eraser / iron pin) a brass lamina protractor with double 0-180° degrees scales All the instruments are stored inside their original mahogany case, still strong and solid. Good preservation. The lid has a brass plaque with engraved the initials of one of the past owners "L.B.". The red velvet under the lid is stamped in gold "Compass Brevetés - SGDG" ( sans garantie de gouvernment = patent without a government guarantee of quality ). Case size: 20,5cms x 12cms x 4,3cms circa. The lock works but the key is missing.Good overall conditions.
