Front entry doors (2) The doors are believed to be French and dated c1865 and installed when the house was constructed. It has been suggested that they are made from mahogany and although the most likely material, this is to be confirmed. T are two that go to make the entry and are each slightly under 30" wide with an opening of 59" and 102" high with an arch topped glazed panel at the top which measures 52" from base to the highest point of the arch and 14½" wide. The decorative raised panel at the bottom believed to be of plums. The door hangs on three hinges at top middle and bottom, which are 4½" high by 2" wide the modern equivalent would be Parliament hinges. The door is 2¼" thick and has had some furniture removed in the past, from the outside. The outside finish has a 'pickled' effect, probably caused by neglect and lack of maintenance, which flattens when sanded and reveals the original door. The inside is almost as the day it was erected in a deep mahogany color. The doorknobs, the latches and the hinges all appear original with intricate etchings in the metal work. The door architrave is carved with a wavy pattern and it included in the sale.
