With the upcoming Holidays fast approaching, this lovely little teeny, tiny vintage photo album could be the perfect gift for your antique French Fashion doll, or the doll collector in your life! This darling little silver plated metal photo album measures only 3/4" wide by a bit over 1/2" wide and is filled with 19 black and white photographs of Victorian Paris. The images are teeny, tiny, and the metal book is a bit tarnished from age, but it's oh so cute! It originally came from an estate of dolls from a Museum in Paris that closed it's doors in the 1950's, then it was part of a famous antique doll collector's French Fashion's Wardrobe and accessories. It can literally take a lifetime of collecting these wonderful little antique treasures to accompany our dolls, and we personally knew the former owner of this metal photo album who cherished it and the others she'd collected like it over a 50 year period. We're not sure of it's actual age, but the current owner told us that she personally researched the photographs under a magnifying glass and was found that they are images of a world fair held in Paris, Notre Dame Cathedral, and many, many other scenes, too. This piece and several other wonderful doll related antique miniature photograph albums has recently been photographed to appear in a doll & toy magazine called: Doll Chatter News , in an article about the enchanted world and doll collection of Evelyn Ackerman, who was a member of UFDC and an authority of French Dolls, their wardrobes and accessories who wrote dozens of books and articles in Doll News and other well known publications throughout her career. It has been consigned to us to sell by it's current owner, who personally new Mrs. Ackerman, along with several other wonderful antique doll miniatures, that we'll be listing separately in time for the holidays. The images inside the album are clean and clear and were laminated by Mrs. Ackerman to protect them as some of them were becoming brittle from age. The images are double sided and feature the Eiffel Tower, the Arc di Triumph, and many other famous sites of Victorian Paris. According to the current owner, the lamination process was achieved with an acid free process since the original antique photographs were starting to fall apart and she wanted to preserve them for future generations of collectors to enjoy. The front cover opens on a smooth hinge and has detailed floral designs, and is a bit tarnished, and we've decided to leave it up to you to clean. The book doesn't quite close all the way, but looks so cute sitting on an antique table next to our Francois Gaultier miniature French Fashion doll in a scene and we're sure you'll enjoy owning it too.
