VILLENAUXE FRENCH MAJOLICA CHAMPAGNE (AUBE) FRANCE LARGE FISH SHAPED SERVING PLATTER 23 1/4" x 11 1/2" Offered here is a large serving platter in the shape of a fish from the Villenauxe facory in Champagne (Aube) France. This factory closed in 1994 and these wonderful glazes are no longer available. This region in northern France has a significant history in ceramic production, but it is almost extinct. I believe these pieces date to 1960-1980. The glaze is a swirl of many shades of red, brown, yellow and orange. Each piece is a one of a kind creation, as the exact glazing can never be created twice. The condition is excelent, with no chips or cracks. All pieces are back stamped with the Villenauxe logo- Champagne France. I am also listing a set of 16 matching individual fish plates, so please check out my other listings. IMPORTANT DETAILS DESCRIPTION AND CONDITION: The majority of my listings are vintage estate pieces or department store excess inventory. Normal light scratches from normal use or storage may be present on some pieces. My inventory will never have chips, cracks, repairs, crazing, breaks or other flaws unless specifically and clearly called out in the listing description. I handle hundreds of pieces, so on the unlikely chance a flaw escapes my inspection, please contact me and I will correct the situation.
