"The Saint Helana Medal"

A very desirable and authentic medal in chocolate bronze with nice patination. It is a full size award measuring 1.3/16th inches by 2 inches and is in superb condition. Even the cross on the top of the crown is intact and good order. The ribbon is old and appears to be original.

Obverse - Laureated bust portrait of the emporer facing right within the legend "Napoleon I. Empereur".

Reverse - Outer legend of "Campagnes de 1792 a 1815". Central legend" A Ses Comagnons de Gloire Sa Derniere Pensee St Helene 5 Mai 1821".

Overall, this is a very nice medal and fully guaranteed to be original and authentic. A choice item for the serious collector.

Postage by registered airmail from France to the USA will be 8 dollars.

Saint Helena Medal - It was created by Napoleon III. It is estimated that only 405 000 soldiers of the Grande Armee received this medal. This is an estimation because of the destruction of the archives of the order in a fire. All these beneficiaries had to prove they belonged to the Grande Armee in the period between 1792 and 1815.
