Very recently, we discovered a folio of drawings, all by the same (female) artist. The curious aspect of this folio, is the fact that the drawings can be dated between ca. 1771 (this sheet) and 1816. We can also notice an evolution in the style of the drawings. The first drawings are very much related to the Louis XVIth period, the last sheets rather to the Empire style.The drawing for sale, executed in charcoal on laid watermarked paper, represents a portrait of a longhaired young man, depicted with a dreamy pose.Authorship : allthough unsigned, but coming from the same folio, we're sure this drawing is by "Olimpe Bétaule (?)". The drawing reflects the early neoclassical period.Size : 50x46cm.Period : ca. 1780-1800.Condition : Good. Some scattered dirt throughout (the sheet would benefit from a clean). Sides damaged (not affecting the drawing). Mid horizontal and bottomcorners : traces of folding. Unframed.Shipping : flat shippingrate 17$. Shipped as International Registered Mail (with trackingn°).
