From a local Antwerp collection, is this intriguing and refined early 19th century drawing.The drawing, executed in pencil on early 19th century paper, depicts a refined portrait of a nobel gent. The drawing was based on a portrait by Van Dyck.Authorship : the drawing is from the French School. The curious aspect about the sheet is the old inscription below (aparantly part of a label), mentioning that this could be a drawing by Ingres (Montauban 1780 - Paris 1867), a study on base of a drawing by Van Dyck). This attribution should be the subject of further research.Period : ca. 1825 (the watermark in the paper indicates the year "1825").Size : 26,8x19,3cm.Right below on the support : an inscription "GZE".Condition : Good. Some scattered dirt throughout. Sides : slight traces of wrinkling. Attached to a support by the topside (easy to remove). Unframed. Shipping : flat shippingrate 17$.
