When Louis XIV died, stiff, formal subjects disappeared and everything became an excuse for seductive gallantries. Throughout the reign of Louis XV, the tapestry makers gave free rein to their imagination. Boucher excelled in gallant scenes. This "Amours pastorales" , a rural scene remarkable for the variety and fineness of its colours and the elegance of its details, is an exquisite illustration of his style. This tapestry by Boucher, the king`s artist and protégé of Madame de Pompadour, expresses this new style. This tapestry is a jacquard and a reproduction (machine-made)...it is an example of the classic work from LES GOBELINS Manufacture with pastel colors and a border of flowers. On this model, the artist shows a young man with a musical instruments and ladies in the country side. This tapestry was made on a wood-frame. H: 49.25 W: 56 Perfect quality. Don't worry for the shipping...we ship from Texas (not from France).
