French Yellow Ware Jar Pot with Lid

Made in France

French Yellow Ware Jar Pot with Lid

This is a lovely antique Yellow Wear/ Stoneware Jar with Lid made in France . This is a paté jar or mustard jar. On the bottom it is marked TERRINE BREVETTE SGDG - LE CACHET -10 - FRANCE . The lid is also embossed with the number 10. It is a beautiful butter cream color and on the sides of the jar it has 2 lion heads, one on each side of the pot, and the lid has a lovely handle. This is a heavy piece of Yelloware/Stoneware pottery.

It is in very good condition with no cracks. T is a very small chip near lip of the jar, two tiny little chips near the opening and also some dark marks near the lip of the jar (see pictures). T some slight crazing to the jar and the lid but not too bad at all. On the lid in the crease, the dark marks are crazing. Overall, this piece is in very nice condition. The jar is very old and I believe this is a 19th century piece to early 1900's.

It measures 4" tall x 4 ½" in diameter at the lid, and measures 3 ½" in diameter at the base. It's a lovely piece in very good condition. I found this the piece at a local estate sale.
