Offering a handmade friendship quilt in the Job's Troubles pattern made in 1935.Has a provenance statement stitched to the back as follows: "Job's Troubles" "Kite" or "Snowball" Friendship Quilt made for Freida Wilson, teacher at One Room Red Oak School, Johnson County, AR in 1930s, inherited by Lois Wilson in 1997, then by me in 1997. 71 x 81.Measures 84" x 74" by my measure. (Note: different than provenance statement). School students have stitched their names on quilt squares and these are displayed on alternating rows. Made of cotton scraps with muslin background. Some of the muslin is slightly different in color than the rest. Very sweet reminder of the austerity of the Depression Era.Has some condition issues. Some stains on the back as shown and a few lighter ones on the front. A few areas where the muslin is thinning, creating holes. The front is still very lovely for display and such an interesting piece.
