Up for auction is an ez US WEATHER BUREAU FRIEZ stairstep microbarograph, in proper working order.I would guess this is 1930's vintage, has original acceptance tag dated 1937. These were designed by Raymond Loewy, same designer of the Studebaker"Starlight" coupe, and the Avanti.It has a seven day wind up chrome clock,(made by CHELSEA) with your choice of 108 hour gears,(U.S. weather Bureau p[attern) or 176 hour(7 day) gears, and the most unusual badge on the front window I have ever seen, obviously factory, as it is a fine cutout stamping. It looks REALLY great, and also has the art deco badge on the cell drum. Nib has been cleaned, and I have checked it in my chamber for proper pressure response. The clockworks has been cleaned and oiled.The lid is immaculate, with brass accents, and windows are prstine.. It will come with one ounce bottle of Graphic controls violet ink and 50 NEW U.S. Weather Bureau pattern charts, just as shown on the chromed drum in pictures, Or a set of 176 hour gears, and the appropriate charts if so desired, plus a copy of the original factory owners and maintenance manual. Serial number of the instrument is 785-2 1/2, which is on the U.S. Weather Bureau tag. T is an instrument division inspection tag dated 12/6/1937 tied on the cell drum.
