is a vintage square fan made by Frigid. The model number is OSC20. It was probably made in the 1960's, but I cannot be exactly sure. It was found among other items in the basement of a home w a woman lived and moved to another state. Everything found was left behind by her, and from that point, no one in our area has been able to contact her since. This fan is made of heavy steel and has a 4 winged all metal blade. It is still nice and shiny. The fan runs very smoothly and the blades are in perfect balance with no vibrations. One unique feature of this fan is that is has aluminum silver vertical shutters on the front of the fan that actually move back and forth on a separate motor. This gives the effect of an oscillating fan by moving the air back and forth. You can choose to have this oscillating effect or the shutters can remain in one position for a straight air flow in any direction. You simply turn the oscillating motor on or off. One thing to note that when turning the fan off, you must also turn the oscillating motor off or this feature will keep running without the blade motor on. This would be an excellent window fan with this feature. The fan has 3 speeds of low, medium, and high. Both the speeds of the fan and the oscillating feature are controlled by push button switches. The fan also has a working thermostat to w you can adjust the temperature of the room and the fan will come on and off according to the room temperature. When the fan was found, it was dusty and I cleaned it to the best of my ability. The outside body of the fan only has some minor scratches, typical of a fan this age. The bottom of the inside of the fan body has some slight surface rust, which can probably be touched up and painted. It is not easily noticeable, and this can be touched up with some sanding and paint. The front and rear grills of the fan also have some slight surface rust, but this could also be touched up. T is a slight dent in the upper left hand corner of the back of the fan near the speed control, but it is hardly noticeable. The label surrounding the speed controls is slightly faded, and some of the decal is missing, but it is still readable. Any painting will be left up to the buyer since I am selling this fan in its original state. The grills and the vertical shutters on this fan are very easily removable for cleaning. The motor states that you must use SAE 20 oil to lubricate the motor. I did oil this fan and ran it for about 4 hours to test it, and it worked perfectly on all speeds. I also oiled the oscillation motor. That motor makes a little bit of loud noise when you start it, but after about a 30 seconds, it is fine. It really pushes a good volume of air, and the oscillating feature is really nice to fully cool an entire large space! I have never seen a fan of this nature with oscillating shutters. This would be great for the collector or anyone who would like a good strong fan. They donâe(tm)t make them like this at all anymore! Though I tested and ran it for about 4 hours, I do not recommend running it while left unattended due to its age.
