Welcome "ART BY ERTE" For your consideration, a truly Exquisite Designer Set of Playing Cards. High Quality Limited Production with Shiney Gold Gilt edges. They had belonged to my good friend's mother in England who has since passed on 20 years ago at the age of 82. She was an avid collector of interesting and old playing cards for many years. One Complete Deck of never been played with, 54 Playing Cards, Designed by ERTE for SOBRAINE OF LONDON entitled, "The Art Of Erte" All cards carry the signature of Erte. The Numerals have been transformed into wonderful Art Deco Figures using mainly male and female figures and their Elaborate Costumes. In 1982, Sobranie of London, the sponsors of the Sobranie Bridge Challenge, set out to produce a unique set of playing cards that would reflect the Elegant, Sophisticated image of their cigarettes. One living Artist perfectly personified that image both in himself and in his work....Erte...an artist whose life had been touched by the glitter of pre-revolutionary Russia; fashionable Paris in the 1920's; and the glamour of Hollywood. Erte agreed to the adaptation of a series of intricate designs for the numerals 1 to 10 that he had produced many years earlier.
