FINE ANTIQUE ERSARI-GROUP TURKOMAN KEJEBE PANEL WEDDING TRAPPING, West Turkestan, Amu Darya area, last quarter of the 19th century, and in perfect full pile condition for the collector. The exact size is: 1'-5" x 5'-2" (43 x 158 cm). The rich red field holds two large and effulgent guls flanked by "kejebe" arches pointing inwards from top to bottom. It is interesting to note that the interior decoration of the two large main guls in the field relate to 'Small Pattern Holbein' medallions found on early Anatolian rugs. This lovely collector weaving has survived in a pristine state of preservation. I witness one moth bite the size of a pencil tip, otherwise MINT condition. Another interesting note is to see that t are remnants of the original fringe knots at the top of the weaving. The colors are all 100% natural with the possible exception of the orangish/red used as outlining and in some of the field and border motifs. This could be a non-natural dye lot or an over-dyed blend, but I witness no color run, bleeding, or transfer to the warps, only slight tip-fading. This lovely antique collector's weaving will make quite a dramatic statement as a wall hanging for ANY home or office environment.
