I purchased these 2 photographs together at an estate sale in Wisconsin. The tintype is a portrait of 2 Union soldiers in uniform. They look quite a bit alike and could be brothers. This is a full plate image measuring 6 1/2" x 8 1/2". I have not tried to clean the surface at all but it could use some help. T is a light dusty coating which may be mildew. T is also some loss in the lower left hand corner due to rust. T is something written on the tape on the back of the tintype but I cannot read it. The second image is a portait of an old man without a shirt showing which looks like a bullet wound from the front and back views. I don't know if this man is one of the soldiers in the tintype but the age could be right. Someone has written "John Smith 1910 on the portrait of the old man. The oval images on this card measure about 2 1/2" x 3 1/2" each and the card is about 6" x 11". T is some sunlight damage to the cardboard mouting but the photos themselves are in good condition. The stamp says this portrait was taken in Kimball, South Dakota. Please feel free to contact me with any questions. I accept paypal, money orders and personal checks (held to clear).
