Here he is, the ultimate big boy's toy. Any kid that watched the TV show Lost in Space grew up wanting one of these. Now's your chance, at a relatively affordable price. You can spend $25K on a licensed Lost in Space robot, and if you have that much, I encourage you to get one of those because they are cool. But if you want one that is affordable and nearly identical in appearance to the fully functional B9, here's what you may be looking for. Long before there was a B9 club, long before there were the disastrous attempts by infamous companies like Icons and the like to make full sized B9 robots, there was this guy named Fred Barton in Hollywood from whom you could buy almost every part needed to build your own B9. This robot dates from that period, long before there was any other outlet to buy parts to make a B9. For many of the parts still to this day, Barton Enterprises is the only manufacturer. This robot was put together by Mr. Barton himself for a friend, who years later sold it to me. Robot is high quality fiberglass, with a clear acrylic bubble. He pivots effortlessly at the waist on a ball bearing system. His orange neon tubes are activated by a custom circuit board which syncs the neon to the voice. All his chest button and brain bubble lights that are supposed to light up, do so. The Dialights in his chest are the real thing. Metal bezels, not resin recasts like the ones being sold now. His voice is supplied through an amplified sound system that runs off a CD player, but will run off an ipod or computer just as easy. He is a joy to behold just as he is, and ready to plug and play the moment you get him. However, if you are a tinkerer, then included are some upgrade parts to really make him shine. Included is a complete new program bay kit with a stainless steel bay, all new internal components and a sliding bay door. Also includes a new metal chest bezel and CNC chest buttons with the correct markings engraved into them, and a backing plate and light box to go behind all that. Includes a new chest button and mic, both to B9 club specs. He currently has no motors, but if you watch 99% of the TV show, the robots motors were not working. Truth is they were too noisy, so they were rarely used after the first few episodes. He could be retrofitted with motors easy enough if someone has a mind to. Folks in the know are aware that the Lost in Space robot was the brainchild of art director Robert Kinoshita, who earlier had created B9's more serious cousin Robby. Kinoshita said the B9 robot gave him a chance to do some things he was unable to do with Robby. The studio guys were having trouble with the bubble, saying it couldn't be done. But Kinoshita was a designer of industrial plastics and knew what he was doing. He blew a big bubble of clear plastic and mashed it down to create the familiar shape we all know and love. This B9 has twin transformers mounted to his rear tread, one for lights, one for the neon. NOTE: Shipping is NOT local pickup only. Shipping will be by Craters and Freighters. Once it is paid for, they will come pick it up, soft pack it back to their facility, then box it up for delivery to you. You will call them direct with your billing info.
