This is a new Practice Set of Uilleann Pipes in the Key of D (A=440Hz). They are made in the style of the Taylor Brothers of Philadelphia and are made of Blackwood, with Brass ferrules and keywork, and imitation ivory mounts. The Chanter top is of matching Blackwood.The Chanter has four keys fitted; F natural, G sharp, B flat and C natural in the second octave. These are made in the folded style used by the Taylors and are Brass sprung, operating easily and returning to provide an airtight seal to the Chanter. The Chanter plays easily and is in tune throughout its' full two octaves. It produces a full and mellow tone and is very responsive. Two reeds are included, and I can supply extra reeds at short notice if required.The bag is of a good quality, hand stitched leather. The bellows are double skinned leather, have an ornamental air intake to prevent accidental sucking in of shirt sleeves, and have comfortable pads fitted to both paddles. They are very comfortable to play and are airtight and powerful. The air feed tube is detachable, to assist packing in smaller cases.These pipes are fully upgradeable to either a half set or a full set, without returning them to me, so you are never without your pipes.
