Rare & Funky 60s Rogers Steel-Gray Ripple Set 13 16 22 Dayton tags! Virgin bass drum! Take the video tour! Colossal Percussion carries the best in new, used, and vintage gear. See our other auctions for all kinds of great percussion-related items! Extremely funky Rogers "Celebrity" drum set in the rare and elusive Steel-Gray Ripple Pearl finish, from 1966-69. Complete with no extra holes or modifications, it has a 9"x13" rack tom, 16"x16" floor tom, and a 14"x22" virgin bass drum that was never drilled for a tom mount!Check out the pictures, read the detailed description, view the video, and act fast. This is a very cool set of drums for the collector and player alike!We're grading this set conservatively at Good (our grading key is at the bottom of this listing). There are no extra holes or modifications, and all the original parts are there with the exception of one 13" hoop and six tension rods. The only real isues with the set are some cracks in the pearl and wear to the bottom bearing edges of the toms. The set has definitely seen some action over the past four decades, with the usual scuffs and scrapes on the wrap, and light surface rust and pitting on the hardware. But the set is quite solid, sounds amazing, and looks great on stage! DETAILS BY DRUM 9" x 13" Holiday Model Rack Tom According to The Rogers Book by Rob Cook, the shell is made of five plies (maple/poplar/maple/poplar/maple) with reinforcing hoops, wrapped in Steel-Gray Ripple Pearl. Interior is painted flat gray, with paper tag reading Dayton, Ohio that dates this drum to around 1966 to 1969. Factory-drilled for twelve small Beavertail tension casings, Swiv-O-Matic tom mount, internal muffler, air vent and script badge. Heads are Remo coated Ambassadors; moderately used on top, nearly new on bottom. No extra holes or modifications. The bottom hoop and tension rods are non-original. The bottom bearing edge has some wear from time spent as a single-headed drum, and there is a crack in the pearl at the bottom edge that's mostly hidden when the head is on (see photo). 16" x 16" Holiday Model Floor Tom Shell is made of five plies (maple/poplar/maple/poplar/maple) with reinforcing hoops, wrapped in Steel-Gray Ripple Pearl. Interior is painted speckled gray, with paper tag reading Dayton, Ohio that dates this drum to around 1966 to 1969. Factory-drilled for sixteen small Beavertail tension casings, three Swiv-O-Matic leg mounts, internal muffler, air vent and script badge. Heads are by Remo; moderately used coated Ambassador on top, nearly new Smooth White Ambasssador on bottom. No extra holes or modifications. The bottom bearing edge has some wear from time spent as a single-headed drum, and there are three cracks in the pearl at the back side of the drum (see photo for the two largest, and the third is visible in the video above). 14" x 22" Holiday Model Bass Drum Shell is made of five plies (maple/poplar/maple/poplar/maple) with reinforcing hoops, wrapped in Steel-Gray Ripple Pearl. Interior is painted speckled gray, with paper tag reading Dayton, Ohio that dates this drum to around 1966 to 1969. Factory-drilled for twenty large Beavertail tension casings, Swiv-O-Matic spurs, Knobby cymbal arm mount, air vent and script badge. Drum was never drilled for a tom mount. It appears that the original Rogers logo head is on front, and the batter side has a Remo PowerStroke 3 in nice shape. No extra holes or modifications, and all parts appear to be original. Both bearing edges are in nice shape; looks like the front head was always on this drum The hoops both have their original inlay, although it looks like both have been (nicely) repainted. The only real issue on this drum is a crack in the pearl that runs along the grain of the finish around about 60% of the shell (see photos and video).
